Xpeng Motors (NYSE: XPEV) introduced its latest electric sedan, the Mona M03, marking the debut of its new Mona lineup designed to bolster sales in the latter part of the year.
“The Xpeng Mona M03 will be priced under RMB 200,000 yuan ($27,500), with an official launch set for August,” the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer announced, detailing the pricing and release timeline for its new model.
Derived from its acquisition of Didi Global’s EV business, Xpeng’s Mona brand aims to leverage Didi’s mobility ecosystem support and target the national shared mobility market.
“We are excited to launch the Mona M03, which represents a significant step towards expanding our product lineup,” stated He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng Motors.
Mona, an acronym for “Made of New AI,” underscores Xpeng’s commitment to integrating advanced artificial intelligence to enhance smart driving capabilities in its vehicles.
“The Mona M03 will come with different smart driving options, positioning it as the most capable in its class,” Xpeng highlighted during the unveiling event.
Detailed specifications of the Mona M03, including dimensions and power options, were recently disclosed in a catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
According to the MIIT filing on June 13, the Mona M03 measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. It features single-motor variants with peak power ranging from 140 kW to 160 kW.
“The Mona M03’s exceptional aerodynamics and spacious trunk volume of 621 L set new standards in its segment,” Xpeng noted, highlighting key performance metrics of the new model.
With Xpeng’s proactive marketing efforts leading up to its official launch in August, the Mona M03 aims to rejuvenate Xpeng’s sales performance following a modest increase in vehicle sales during the first half of the year.
“We anticipate strong market reception for the Mona M03 as we continue to innovate and expand our electric vehicle offerings,” Xiaopeng concluded.
