Xpeng released the first official images of its extended-range version of the G7 sport utility vehicle on Thursday, saying the model will launch in the first quarter of next year.
The G7 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) is the latest addition to the company’s Super Extended-Range lineup. “The Xpeng G7 Super Extended-Range Edition will set a new generation standard! See you in the first quarter of next year!” the company wrote in a post on Weibo.
The new variant is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and will be equipped with a large battery capable of 5C ultra-fast charging, according to the company. It is designed to deliver a pure-electric range of up to 430 kilometers and will feature advanced artificial intelligence functions.
Regulatory filings published earlier this week by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) list the five-seat SUV with dimensions of 4,918 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,655 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. The length is slightly longer than the battery electric version of the G7, while other dimensions remain unchanged.
The filings also show the model carries a curb weight of around 2,245 kg to 2,255 kg and supports a maximum speed of 202 km/h. Power is supplemented by a 1.5-liter engine from Harbin Dongan Auto Engine, generating 110 kW, which acts as a range extender. The SUV is fitted with lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by Eve Energy, with a capacity of 55.8 kWh, offering a declared 325 km range.
Xpeng introduced the G7 in July, its first model to feature the in-house developed Turing AI chip with computing power of up to 2,250 TOPS. The BEV version starts at RMB 195,800 ($27,490) and offers a range between 602 km and 702 km under China’s testing cycle.
Before launching the G7 EREV, Xpeng is expected to debut the extended-range version of its X9 multi-purpose vehicle later this year, followed by an extended-range P7+ sedan in 2026, according to local media reports.
