Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Xpeng has revealed the 2024 model of its flagship SUV, the G9, in a surprising move that came earlier than expected. The company made the announcement through its official social media channels, also mentioning that the first display models are already available at Xpeng stores.
The upcoming Xpeng G9 2024 will be offered in various exterior color options, including green, black, gray, white, and silver, as outlined in the company’s statement. However, Xpeng has not yet disclosed additional details regarding potential changes to the interior or any adjustments in pricing for the new model.

The G9 initially entered the market on September 21, 2022, with an initial starting price of RMB 309,900 ($42,340) for the earlier version, which utilized an 800 V high-voltage platform. Despite its competitive pricing, the G9 faced criticism due to its complex configuration at launch, which left potential buyers confused.
In response to customer feedback, Xpeng swiftly revamped the G9’s options just two days after its initial launch to simplify the selection process for prospective buyers.

Back on August 20, Gu Jie, Xpeng’s Senior Director of Powertrain, hinted at the possibility of a facelifted G9 version launching in the fourth quarter. The G9 achieved a significant milestone in December 2022 when it recorded 4,020 units sold, contributing to 35.6 percent of Xpeng’s total deliveries for that month.
However, this year has seen a decline in G9 deliveries, with monthly figures averaging around 1,000 units, except for January when 2,249 units were delivered, and a noticeable drop to 872 units in July.
