Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng said it will roll out updated versions of its G6 and G9 sport utility vehicles at a launch event on January 8, broadening the deployment of its in-house autonomous driving technology.
The company said the refreshed G6 and G9 will be introduced alongside the previously announced updated P7+ sedan and the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant of the G7 SUV. The China launch event is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Beijing time in Guangzhou, Xpeng’s headquarters city.

Xpeng did not disclose pricing or specification details for the updated G6 and G9, but confirmed that both models will adopt its self-developed Turing AI chip, replacing the autonomous driving processors previously supplied by Nvidia. The shift marks a further step in Xpeng’s strategy to internalise key vehicle intelligence technologies.
The G7 SUV, launched in July 2025, was the first Xpeng model equipped with the Turing chip. Its Ultra variant carries three such processors, with two dedicated to autonomous driving functions and one supporting in-cabin systems.

Earlier this month, Xpeng said the updated P7+ sedan and the G7 EREV variant would debut in China on January 8, followed by a European launch on January 9 in Brussels. The company’s move to stage back-to-back launches in China and Europe underscores its push to expand its product lineup across major markets.
The G6 and G9 were last updated in March 2025, when Xpeng cut starting prices by 11.56% and 5.72% respectively, reflecting intensifying competition in China’s electric vehicle market.
