Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has outlined plans for a refreshed version of its P7+ sedan, detailing updates to its powertrain lineup, design, and global rollout strategy as the company continues to expand its international footprint.

The updated P7+ will continue to be offered in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric (EREV) configurations. According to the company, the EREV version is expected to deliver up to 430 km of electric-only driving and a combined range of 1,550 km under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). The configuration is intended to support daily electric driving while retaining an internal combustion engine to extend total range when needed.

For the fully electric variant, Xpeng said the model will feature an 800-volt electrical architecture, 5C fast-charging capability and a maximum CLTC-rated range of up to 725 km. The company positioned these updates as part of a broader effort to improve charging efficiency and overall vehicle performance.

Design revisions are limited but noticeable. Regulatory filings indicate the refreshed P7+ is 15 mm longer than the outgoing version, with changes including a revised front fascia featuring a larger active grille and a redesigned rear with a full-width light bar. The updates are intended to enhance visual width while maintaining the vehicle’s coupe-style proportions.

Xpeng described the model as a comprehensive refresh rather than a routine update, citing more than 100 improvements related to interior comfort and refinements across multiple vehicle systems. The company said these changes are aimed at improving overall usability and driving experience.

The refreshed P7+ is also positioned as part of Xpeng’s broader global strategy. The company plans to introduce the model in 36 markets under unified manufacturing and safety standards, marking a shift toward synchronized international launches rather than staggered regional rollouts.

Xpeng reported strong overseas performance, with year-on-year sales growth of 170% in Asia-Pacific, 161% in Europe and 66% in the Middle East between January and November. It also said it ranked first among Chinese brands in Northern Europe during that period and has led China’s EV startups in 10 overseas markets so far this year.

To support its international expansion, Xpeng has established nine research and development centers globally and is advancing localized production projects in Indonesia, Austria through its partnership with Magna, and Malaysia.

The P7+ was first introduced in November 2023 and has recorded cumulative sales of more than 87,000 units, making it one of the company’s higher-volume models. With the updated version, Xpeng appears to be positioning the P7+ as a key product in its next phase of global growth, with pricing expected to play a significant role in market reception.
