Xpeng is set to expand its P7+ sedan lineup with an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant, following the launch of EREV versions of the X9 and G7, according to filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The P7+ EREV will feature a 49.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 325 km. Power will come from a 1.5T range-extender engine producing 110 kW (148 hp) paired with a 180 kW (241 hp) electric motor. The top speed is listed at 200 km/h. The combined driving range has not yet been disclosed.

Externally, the P7+ EREV largely mirrors the current BEV model, with a 15 mm increase in length to 5,071 mm, while width, height, and wheelbase remain unchanged at 1,937 mm, 1,512 mm, and 3,000 mm, respectively. The front fascia is updated with an automatic air vent to aid engine cooling, while the rear taillights adopt a ring-shaped design with an embedded Xpeng logo. Xpeng also plans updated versions of the standard P7+ BEV, offering 61.7 kWh and 74.9 kWh battery options with pure electric ranges spanning 590 km to 725 km, according to the filing. Further details remain pending official announcement.

The new P7+ EREV will leverage Xpeng’s Kunpeng super electric system, introduced in November 2024. The system utilizes an 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform with a 5C “AI” battery pack, a hybrid silicon carbide coaxial electric drive, and a low-noise range extender. The platform supports a pure electric range of 430 km and a combined range of up to 1,400 km, with rapid charging capabilities allowing 80% battery recharge in 12 minutes, or approximately 1 km of range per second.
