Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is gearing up for the imminent launch of its inaugural Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) model, the X9, slated for release in the fourth quarter.

Today, Xpeng provided a glimpse of the eagerly anticipated X9 by sharing three images of the vehicle, shrouded in camouflage, on the social media platform Weibo. These images provide a sneak peek into the X9’s exterior design, offering a distinctive crossover aesthetic.

In a conference call held on May 24, coinciding with the announcement of the company’s first-quarter financial results, Xpeng’s management disclosed their plans to introduce a seven-seat, all-electric MPV internally known as the X9 by the end of this year. During this announcement, Xpeng emphasized its consideration of the preferences of younger consumers in designing the MPV, promising to elucidate their rationale for targeting this demographic later in the year.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng, took to Weibo on May 26 to affirm the company’s commitment to the X9 MPV project, expressing their ambition to carve out a niche for the model within the MPV market, specifically catering to young consumers.

While the much-anticipated seven-seat MPV is scheduled for release in the final quarter of the year, Mr. He noted during an analyst call on August 18, following Xpeng’s second-quarter earnings announcement, that it may make a limited contribution to this year’s overall deliveries.
