Xpeng has begun shipping its GX flagship SUV to markets in the Middle East and Africa, with orders in the Middle East exceeding 3,000 before overseas pricing has been announced.
The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer disclosed the development in a Weibo post on Saturday. It did not specify the number of vehicles shipped, the destination countries or expected local delivery dates.
Xpeng said overseas shipments of the GX began in August. The latest announcement provides no further details on shipment volumes or the distribution of vehicles between the Middle East and Africa.
GX Available in Two Powertrain Versions in China
Launched in China on May 20, the GX is a full-size SUV with six seats. The domestic lineup includes battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.
The model’s official launch prices in China ranged from 279,800 yuan ($41,620) to 359,800 yuan.
Xpeng has not confirmed which powertrain versions or configurations will be offered in the Middle East and Africa. Overseas pricing and delivery schedules have also not been announced.
Other Models Expand Xpeng’s Overseas Lineup
Xpeng has also introduced additional vehicles in international markets. The company launched the G9L SUV in Europe at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, following its announcement of the Mona L03’s launch in Australia and New Zealand on October 11.
During an earnings call in August, chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said the company expected overseas deliveries of the Mona L03 and other initiatives to help raise overseas sales above 40,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter.
The GX shipment announcement did not provide updated overseas sales figures or specify how much the model is expected to contribute to that target.
