Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has announced an exclusive partnership with UK-based charging provider Ohme, offering new customers a comprehensive home charging solution that includes hardware, installation, and ongoing support. The collaboration marks Xpeng’s first dedicated charging partnership in the UK market since its entry earlier this year.
As part of the agreement, customers purchasing an Xpeng G6 Long Range model before the end of September will receive a complimentary Ohme home charger. The G6 Long Range features an 87.5kWh battery, and Ohme estimates that a full charge on a dynamic EV tariff such as Intelligent Octopus Go could cost around £6.13. It remains unclear whether the charger package will continue to be included after the promotional period or become a paid option.
Ohme’s smart chargers use real-time grid data to optimise charging times and costs. The system allows drivers to charge during periods of peak renewable energy generation, reducing grid dependency. “Ohme chargers automatically adjust to optimise the cost of charging and accessing all the times of the smartest, greenest, and lowest cost energy tariffs as well as featuring a solar boost function reducing reliance on the grid,” the company said in a statement.
“We are delighted that we will be partnering with Ohme as our exclusive home charging supplier,” said William Brown, Xpeng UK’s Marketing Director. “Intuitive, everyday mobility is one of Xpeng’s fundamental values and Ohme’s unique dynamic charging capabilities, user-friendly app and excellent customer service make it the ideal partner for us, our customers and the development of our retailer network.”
Ohme already serves as the official UK charging partner for several other electric vehicle brands, including Smart UK, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz.
