Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has introduced its latest model, the G6 electric SUV, to the European market, marking its third offering in the region. The G6 is now available for order in the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, offering a compelling alternative to other electric SUVs, including the Tesla Model Y, at a more affordable price point.

In the Netherlands, the Xpeng G6 starts at 42,990 euros, making it a more cost-effective option compared to the Tesla Model Y, which starts at 45,990 euros for the rear-wheel-drive version with a small battery. The price difference extends to other variants of the Model Y, with the “Long-Range Rear-wheel drive” version priced at a minimum of 49,990 euros and the cheapest all-wheel-drive version at 52,990 euros in the Netherlands.

Similarly, in Norway, the Xpeng G6 is priced at NOK 410,000, equivalent to 34,763 euros, offering a competitive edge over other electric SUVs in the market. In Denmark, the G6 starts at DKK 339,900 or approximately €45,571, while in Sweden, the starting price is SEK 529,900 or around €45,483. These price variations are primarily due to differences in taxation in each country.

The Xpeng G6 boasts a range of customization options, including various exterior colors such as Arctic White, Graphite Gray, Midnight Black, Silver Frost, and Fiery Orange, along with interior color choices of Black or Diamond Gray. The SUV comes standard with 20-inch aluminum wheels and can be equipped with an electrically extendable trailer coupling upon request.

The G6 is Xpeng’s fifth model and the third to be offered in Europe. Unveiled at Auto China in Shanghai in April 2023, the G6 features a coupĂ©-like design and is the first Xpeng model based on the new 800-volt SEPA 2.0 platform. It comes with rear-wheel drive as standard, with the option for all-wheel drive. The base model delivers 190 kW and 440 Nm, while the all-wheel-drive version boasts an impressive 350 kW and 660 Nm, capable of accelerating to 100 kph in four seconds.

Buyers of the Xpeng G6 can choose between a smaller LFP battery with 66 kWh and a WLTP range of up to 435 kilometers or a larger NCM battery with 87.5 kWh for a range of 550 to 570 kilometers according to the WLTP. The large battery is standard in the all-wheel-drive model, offering fast charging capabilities with a peak charging power of 280 kW, allowing for a quick charge from 10 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes.

Xpeng also emphasizes the spaciousness of the G6, with a boot capacity of 571 liters (expandable to up to 1,374 liters) and a wheelbase of 2.89 meters. The G6 has a length of 4.75 meters, a width of 1.92 meters, and a height of 1.65 meters, making it almost the same size as the Tesla Model Y.

With its competitive pricing, impressive performance, and range, the Xpeng G6 is poised to make a significant impact in the European electric vehicle market, offering consumers a compelling choice in the rapidly growing segment of electric SUVs.
