Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has unveiled a new, more affordable variant of its G6 SUV while extending discounts across the entire G6 range.
The company announced the launch of the G6 580 Plus, starting at RMB 199,900 ($27,630), a reduction of RMB 10,000, or 4.76%, from the previous lowest-priced G6 580 Pro.
Xpeng is offering a RMB 20,000 limited-time discount on all G6 versions, including the new variant, until April 30, effectively bringing the starting price down to RMB 179,900.
While initially intended as limited-time offers, these discounts appear to have become permanent price reductions, although the price remains unchanged on Xpeng’s website.
Xpeng began offering a RMB 10,000 discount for the G6 in December last year, which was increased to RMB 20,000 in February and March.
The G6 580 Plus features a new black exterior and maintains the core specifications of the G6 580 Pro, powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a CLTC range of 580 kilometers. However, some comfort features have been scaled back to reduce costs, such as the removal of lumbar support for the driver’s seat and a reduction in the number of speakers from 18 to 8 compared to the G6 580 Pro.
The G6 lineup now consists of six variants with starting prices ranging from RMB 199,900 to RMB 276,900 before discounts, and from RMB 179,900 to RMB 256,900 after discounts.
Xpeng launched the G6 in China on June 29, 2023, with deliveries starting in early July. The model significantly boosted the company’s sales, with 3,937 units delivered in the first month, accounting for 35.76% of Xpeng’s total delivery volume of 11,008 vehicles in July last year, second only to the P7 sedan.
