Xpeng is undergoing a transformation, with sales numbers plummeting to 6,000 vehicles sold in October and November 2022. Despite reports of CEO He Xiaopeng being replaced, the company denied these claims and confirmed he would remain as the head leader.
In a recent development, Xpeng has hired former Great Wall Motor President Wang Fengying to lead product planning, portfolio management, and sales operations. With her decades of experience in the automotive industry, Xpeng hopes to turn its fortunes around as they face increasing competition and declining sales.
āMs. Wang brings to us over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, spanning roles in sales, strategy and senior management. Her leadership and expertise have been instrumental in driving the development of some of the most successful auto products, earning her remarkable industry recognition. We look forward to working with Ms. Wang to further elevate our product portfolio, leveraging her distinguished experience and deep industry knowledge to accelerate the smart EV transition,ā said Mr. He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of the Company.

āWe are committed to implementing our smart EV strategy, and are confident that an elite talent like Ms. Wang will be a valuable addition to our leadership and management teams as we strive towards our long-term goals,ā Mr. He added.
In the second half of 2022, sales dropped by 30% despite a thriving electric vehicle market. To address the issues, Xpeng is restructuring its highly centralized management approach and looking to reconnect with its customer base. In 2023, Xpeng plans to launch two new electric cars and refresh existing models, with an aim to sell 200,000 EVs.
