The Xpeng G9 has just been officially launched on September 21, 2022. The company claims the electric SUV is the mass production model of the fastest charging EV in the world.
In addition to the G9, Xpeng so far has an electric vehicle portfolio including two sedans – the P5 and P7 – as well as the G3i compact SUV.
The Xpeng G9 uses the latest 800V silicon carbide battery which allows it to be charged up to 480kW when using Xpeng’s 480kW S4 supercharger.
With a 480kW charger, Xpeng G9 owners can add 124 miles in five minutes. Meanwhile, charging 10-80% only takes 15 minutes.
Under China’s own range testing cycle – the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) the Xpeng G9 has a range of up to 436 miles. Using the WLTP cycle, the range is between 285 and 354 miles.
This electric SUV comes in three different trim versions offering a varied driving range; RWD 570G, RWD570E and RWD 702E. Also available are four-wheel-drive 4WD Performance 650E and 650X, as well as Launch Edition 650X.
The standard Xpeng G9 models get double-wishbone suspension up front and five-link suspension at the rear. The all-wheel-drive performance Xpeng G9 comes with two-chamber air suspension.
The highest-reaching all-wheel-drive Xpeng G9 has an output of 405kW and 529 lb ft of torque and can accelerate from 0-60mph in under four seconds. While the rear-drive model offers 230kW of power and 317 lb ft of torque.
The Xpeng G9 comes in seven driving modes, including a boost mode that helps the vehicle reach maximum torque in 0.15 seconds.
The Xpeng G9 is also equipped with the company’s latest full scenario advanced driver assistance system that uses 31 sensors and a front camera to detect roadblocks.
The new SUV also has a new voice assistance system that can respond to more than 600 commands, while the G9 also features a 35 Xpeng interactive user interface that operates via a 15-inch screen.
