Xpeng has seen a strong market response to the launch of its new G7 SUV, securing more than 10,000 confirmed orders within the first nine minutes of its debut, the company announced on its official Weibo account.
The G7, which made its official debut yesterday evening, enters China’s competitive electric vehicle (EV) market with a starting price of RMB 195,800 ($27,330), significantly undercutting Tesla’s Model Y by RMB 67,700, or 25.7%.
This launch price also marks a reduction from the RMB 235,800 figure listed during the pre-sale period that began on June 11.
Three variants of the G7 are available: the 602 Max, 702 Max, and 702 Ultra, priced at RMB 195,800, RMB 205,800, and RMB 225,800 respectively.
Deliveries are expected to commence shortly, with some buyers reporting that their orders have already been matched to vehicles and delivery windows of one to two weeks have been communicated.
The G7 is also notable for being the first model equipped with Xpeng’s proprietary Turing AI driving chip, capable of delivering up to 2,250 TOPS (trillions of operations per second) of computing power.
This marks the G7 as the most advanced Xpeng vehicle in terms of smart driving capabilities, positioning it competitively in the market for intelligent EVs.
