Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle market has seen tremendous success with its SU7 model, leading to a surge in demand. To meet this demand, the company is now hiring a significant number of workers at its factory, offering competitive salaries and bonuses.

According to a report by Sina Tech, Xiaomi’s car factory is actively recruiting workers, offering monthly salaries of up to RMB 10,000 ($1,380) along with a year-end bonus equivalent to one month’s salary. Human resource service providers are aiding Xiaomi in this hiring spree to meet the annual delivery targets for Xiaomi EV.

The factory workers, essential to Xiaomi’s production goals, are being paid between RMB 8,000 and RMB 10,000 per month. However, the pressure to meet delivery targets has led to longer work hours, with workers expected to clock in 10-11 hours a day, six days a week, covering two shifts.

Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle model, the SU7, has seen remarkable demand since its launch. The company introduced three variants of the SU7 – standard, Pro, and Max – with prices starting from RMB 215,900 ($29,800). Deliveries for the standard and Max versions began in April, while the SU7 Pro deliveries started in May.

In an effort to meet the overwhelming demand, Xiaomi EV management announced plans to ensure the delivery of at least 100,000 units for the full year 2024, with aspirations to challenge a 120,000-unit delivery target. The company’s proactive measures include starting double-shift production at the factory in June, aiming to deliver at least 10,000 units that month.

The SU7’s popularity is evident, with customers facing a waiting period of at least 30 weeks for delivery. In May alone, the model delivered 8,646 units, bringing the total deliveries to 15,764, as reported by Xiaomi in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
