Chinese technology giant Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch three new electric vehicle (EV) models next year to diversify its automotive portfolio across the family, high-performance, and executive luxury segments, according to a report from Sina Tech.

The upcoming models are identified as the YU9 large SUV, the YU7 GT sport SUV, and the SU7 L sedan. This expansion follows the introduction of Xiaomi’s initial models, the SU7 sedan series and the YU7 SUV.

The YU9, internally codenamed “Kunlun,” is positioned as a flagship family vehicle intended to compete with models like the Li Auto L9 and the Huawei-backed Aito M9. The large SUV is expected to measure over 5.2 meters in length and be offered in six- or seven-seat configurations. Notably, the YU9 is anticipated to be the company’s first model to utilize an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain to address driver concerns regarding range during long-distance travel.

The report noted that Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, recently led his team in testing the vehicle on the Pamir Plateau, indicating its approaching launch. The report cited sources suggesting the YU9 is intended to help Xiaomi transition from a “toy for young people” to a primary family vehicle.

For the performance segment, the YU7 GT, a high-performance variant based on the current YU7 SUV, has been observed undergoing testing at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit. This model is focused on extreme performance and chassis tuning. The YU7 GT is reportedly being considered as Xiaomi’s first model for the European market and is expected to compete with vehicles such as the Tesla Model Y Performance.

Lastly, the SU7 L is an extended-wheelbase luxury variant of the existing SU7 sedan. Spy shots show a visibly elongated section behind the B-pillar, suggesting a total length exceeding 5.2 meters and a wheelbase surpassing 3.1 meters, compared to the standard SU7’s 3,000 mm wheelbase. This model is expected to target the executive luxury sedan market, aiming to enhance rear-seat comfort and prestige, much like the extended-wheelbase versions of the Porsche Panamera.
