Charging infrastructure manufacturer XCharge has appointed Albina Iljasov as Co-Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, as the company seeks to strengthen its international growth strategy and operational capabilities.
Iljasov will serve alongside existing Co-CEO Yifei Hou, who will remain in his current role. In her new position, Iljasov will primarily oversee XCharge’s European operations while also taking responsibility for the company’s information security and cybersecurity initiatives.
The appointment reflects XCharge’s continued expansion outside its home market and the company’s decision to adopt a dual-leadership structure to support future growth.
Focus on European Expansion
XCharge said the move aligns with its broader international development plans and reflects confidence from the board of directors in a co-CEO management model.
According to the company, the structure is intended to strengthen operational execution and support expansion across global markets.
Iljasov has been closely involved in XCharge’s European business since joining the company.
She has served as Head of Europe since September 2021, overseeing commercial operations and market development across the region. Prior to that role, she led sales and business development activities for the company in Europe.
Extensive Charging Industry Experience
Before joining XCharge, Iljasov held positions at electric vehicle charging companies EVBox and E.ON Drive, where she focused on business development and regional sales initiatives across European markets.
Her appointment comes as charging infrastructure providers continue to expand networks and manufacturing capabilities to support growing electric vehicle adoption.
Strengthening Presence in Europe
Founded in China, XCharge has evolved into an international charging infrastructure supplier with dual global headquarters located in Hamburg, Germany, and Austin, Texas.
The company said manufacturing activities remain primarily based in Asia.
Since entering the European market in 2017, XCharge has installed approximately one-third of its global total of 9,000 charging units across Europe.
The company has continued to increase its investment in the region in recent years.
In 2024, XCharge opened a development laboratory at its European headquarters in Hamburg. Last September, it also launched a technology center and warehouse facility in Madrid, Spain.
The company is also planning to establish a manufacturing facility in Silla, Spain, further expanding its European footprint.
Leadership Transition Supports Growth Strategy
XCharge said the appointment is intended to support the next stage of its international development as demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure continues to grow.
By combining Hou’s leadership with Iljasov’s experience in European markets, the company aims to strengthen its position in key regions while expanding its technology, manufacturing and service capabilities.
The move comes as charging equipment manufacturers increasingly seek to localize operations and production in major electric vehicle markets to support customers and meet evolving industry requirements.
