Wallbox has announced that its bidirectional charger, Quasar 2, has received product certification from UL Solutions in the United States. This certification makes Quasar 2 the first bidirectional charger to meet the required safety standards for DC EV chargers with a CCS1 connector, an important step for both the company and the electric vehicle (EV) industry.

The Quasar 2 has been certified under UL 9741, UL 2231-2, and UL 1741 standards, ensuring it meets critical safety and performance benchmarks. The charger also supports bidirectional charging and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2X) functionality, allowing electric vehicles to power homes during outages.

Wallbox’s CEO, Enric Asunción, stated, “Obtaining the UL certification for Quasar 2 marks a significant achievement for Wallbox and showcases our engineering capabilities and ability to bring solutions to market.” He added, “Receiving the UL Mark underscores our dedication to industry standards and positions us as part of the ongoing developments in EV charging.”

The Quasar 2 is designed for residential use, with a compact, award-winning design, and is compatible with ISO 15118-20 standards. Wallbox plans to launch the product in the near future as it continues to expand its portfolio of EV charging solutions.

Jeff Smidt, senior vice president of Industrial Testing, Inspection, and Certification at UL Solutions, remarked, “This achievement reinforces UL Solutions’ focus on capabilities that serve the EV market with services that help increase confidence in products’ performance, reliability, and safety.”
