Volvo on Wednesday revealed full design and technical details of its upcoming EX60 electric sport utility vehicle, positioning the model in the upper-middle segment of its EV lineup with what the company says are class-leading range, charging performance and a lower carbon footprint enabled by new manufacturing technology.

The EX60 will be Volvo’s longest-range and fastest-charging electric vehicle to date. The automaker said the SUV can add up to 173 miles of range in about 10 minutes when connected to a 400-kilowatt, 800-volt fast charger. In the United States, the EX60 will be the first Volvo vehicle to come standard with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing direct access to Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.

The EX60 will be offered in three powertrain variants. The P6 rear-wheel-drive version delivers an estimated 310 miles of range from an 83 kilowatt-hour battery, while the P10 all-wheel-drive variant offers about 320 miles from a 95 kWh pack. The top-spec P12 AWD model is rated at up to 400 miles of range, powered by a 117 kWh battery. Volvo said all variants can charge from 10% to 80% in under 20 minutes on compatible fast chargers and include a 10-year battery warranty.

Performance ranges from 0–60 mph in 5.7 seconds for the P6, 4.4 seconds for the P10 and 3.8 seconds for the P12. All versions are equipped with a 19.2 kW onboard AC charger to support faster home and destination charging.

Sized between the smaller EX30 and EX40 models and the larger EX90, the EX60 features a minimalist Scandinavian interior, front trunk storage and underfloor cargo space. Volvo said the vehicle runs on NVIDIA’s DRIVE AGX Orin platform with a Qualcomm 8255 processor, while Google Gemini powers conversational voice functions. The company described the EX60 as its “most intelligent car yet.”

Volvo also introduced the EX60 Cross Country, a more rugged variant with 20 millimetres of additional ground clearance, expandable by another 20 millimetres with adjustable air suspension. The Cross Country version features wider wheel arches, protective exterior trim and reinforced skid plates, and will be offered initially in P10 and P12 AWD configurations.

The automaker said the EX60’s carbon footprint is comparable to that of the smaller EX30, citing higher energy-density batteries and a new megacasting process that reduces material use and manufacturing complexity.

Production of the P6 and P10 variants is scheduled to begin in April, with European deliveries starting in the summer. The P12 version will follow later in the year. Pre-orders are now open in Europe, while U.S. ordering is expected to begin in late spring.
