Volvo Cars reported global sales of 62,458 vehicles in September, marking a 1% increase compared to the same period last year. The company’s electrified models, including fully electric and plug-in hybrids, surged by 43% and represented 48% of all cars sold during the month. Fully electric vehicles alone accounted for 24% of the total.

For the first nine months of the year, Volvo’s global sales reached 560,922 cars, a 10% rise compared to 2023. “The overall market remains volatile and uncertain, but we are encouraged by solid performance in Europe, especially for our electrified portfolio, led by the EX30,” said Björn Annwall, Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy CEO of Volvo Cars.

In Europe, sales rose 23% year-on-year, with electrified models comprising 66% of all sales. The U.S. saw a 22% drop in sales, attributed in part to public holidays, while plug-in hybrid models recorded a 43% increase. In China, sales fell 16%, with electrified models posting a modest 7% growth.

The Volvo XC60 remained the top-selling model in September with 18,096 units, followed by the XC40/EX40 with 13,930, and the EX30 with 9,610 units.
