Voltpost has introduced its new Level 2 lamppost charging platform, Voltpost Air, with the first installation in Brooklyn at MADE Bush Terminal. The system allows one or two chargers to be mounted on wooden or metal lampposts and utility poles, offering a scalable approach to expanding EV access in urban areas. The deployment is supported by NYCEDC, NYSERDA, and Con Edison.
The modular design mounts approximately 10 feet above ground and features retractable cables to reduce vandalism and improve durability. Voltpost Air integrates with the Voltpost App, providing drivers with real-time availability, flexible payment options, and remote monitoring. The company plans to expand its network across New York, California, Michigan, Illinois, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
The Brooklyn installation is part of NYCEDC’s Pilots at BAT initiative, which promotes climate-tech innovations within the historic Brooklyn Army Terminal. NYSERDA funding is supporting further statewide deployments, while the system’s compact architecture allows installation in hours without significant construction or grid modifications. Voltpost Air builds on the company’s existing lamppost charging platform, offering municipalities and property owners a cost-effective way to expand EV infrastructure.
Voltpost has conducted previous pilot programs in Oak Park, Illinois, and near Detroit, demonstrating the feasibility of retrofitting existing urban infrastructure for charging needs. The company continues to partner with cities, utilities, and private organizations to support scalable, community-friendly EV networks.
