Volta Trucks, a leading manufacturer and service provider of electric commercial vehicles, has announced a partnership with one of London’s largest West End property owners, The Crown Estate and distribution provider Clipper Logistics.
This partnership is of course to decarbonize and consolidate shipping to London by improving air quality and reducing congestion in the city centre.
Set to launch as a test run in the summer of 2022, the full-electric Volta Zero is a key component of The Crown Estate’s newest delivery consolidation scheme to Regent Street customers as part of its ongoing commitment to reducing emissions across the West End.
Confirming the agreement with The Crown Estate and Clipper Logistics, Essa Al-Saleh, Chief Executive Officer of Volta Trucks, said that the full-electric Volta Zero was specifically designed for zero-emission urban distribution with The Crown Estate and Clipper Logistics use cases in mind. And with a payload of 8.6 tons, it was created to consolidate deliveries and reduce small vehicle congestion on downtown streets.
“I can’t wait to see vehicles with The Crown Estate and Clipper Logistics livery operate on the famous streets of London’s West End in just a few months,” he said on his official website, Monday (17/1/2022).
The Crown Estate’s portfolio in London covers a large area consisting of Regent Street and about half of St. James, with a broad offering across the workplace, retail, dining, leisure and housing sectors.
