Volta Trucks, as a leading manufacturer of fully electric commercial vehicles confirms that it has selected Carrier Transicold as the sole supplier of refrigerated equipment for the 16 ton Volta Zero electric truck model.
Carrier Transicold is a leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cooling solutions part of Carrier Global Corporation.
This agreement follows a project in which Carrier Transicold engineers worked closely with the Volta Trucks development team to integrate a fully electric ‘Iceland’ model without the engine and PowerBox technology into the new Volta Zero.
Reported by the official Volta Trucks website on Monday (23/5/2022), Ian Collins, Chief Product Officer of Volta Trucks revealed that Carrier Transicold is a global company that offers best-in-class engineless cooling solutions.
“Choosing Carrier Transicold as our refrigerated equipment supplier for the Volta Zero was logical, given our strategy of working with world-leading partners. Carrier Transicold Iceland units are market proven, and integrate seamlessly with our powertrain and control systems,” he explained.
From an operational perspective, the Carrier Transicold system is claimed to achieve more than 95% efficiency when converting energy from the electric drive lines into cooling system power.
Victor Calvo, President of International Truck & Trailer, Carrier Transicold said that emission and noise reduction continued to be a focus, and this project with Volta Trucks was declared a success. “We have invested in electrical technology for the last two decades, and we are delighted that our customers have reaped the benefits,” said Victor.
A prototype Volta Zero ‘Design Verification’ highway vehicle equipped with the Iceland system will be displayed at the CV Show, which takes place from 24-26 May 2022 at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham, England.
