Volkswagen got a very high demand for electric vehicles in the first four months of 2022. As of early this May, the electric cars that they will produce throughout the year are sold out!

VW's electric cars, which are out of stock in May, are for Europe and the United States. This means that new buyers who place orders for the rest of the year will have to wait until 2023 to get their electric car.

VW Group CEO, Herbert Diess, said that currently they have received 300,000 orders for electric vehicles only for the western European region alone.

“We have very high orders and … requests for electric vehicles. Basically, our electric cars for Europe and the United States are sold out. Meanwhile in China, sales are also high,” Diess said further quoted. from euronews.

In the first four months of 2222, VW has delivered 99,000 electric vehicles to customers worldwide. Although the figure is relatively high, VW's electric car shipments are still far behind Tesla, which in the same period managed to send 310,048 electric cars to its consumers.

Still quoted from euronews, from January to March 2022 sales of fully electric cars reached 10% of total car sales. Meanwhile, hybrid car sales stood at 8.9% of total sales.

A total of 224,145 electric battery cars were sold across Europe in the first three months of 2022. This figure is quite high compared to the same period the previous year, where 146,125 units were sold.
