Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) has started deliveries of the new VW Transporter across Europe, including its passenger variant, the Caravelle, as the company marks the 75th anniversary of the iconic Bulli.
For the first time, the model lineup includes a fully electric variant, the VW e-Transporter, which has been available for order in Germany since mid-January in panel van, Kombi, and dropside configurations. Both models are also offered in the PanAmericana trim.

The seventh-generation Transporter, unveiled at the IAA Transportation show, represents a shift from in-house development to a collaboration with Ford Pro. The e-Transporter shares its platform with the Ford e-Transit Custom and is produced at Fordās plant in Kocaeli, Turkey.
The electric variant features rear-wheel drive and comes in four power levelsā85 kW, 100 kW, 160 kW, and 210 kWāthough the entry-level 85 kW option is not available for the e-Caravelle. Each version is equipped with a 64 kWh net-capacity battery, supporting a payload of up to 1,023 kg and a towing capacity of up to 2.3 tonnes (braked).

The new Transporter measures 5.05 meters in lengthā14.6 cm longer than its predecessorāwhile an extended wheelbase variant increases the overall length to 5.45 meters. Cargo capacity ranges from 5.8 cubic meters with a standard wheelbase to 9.0 cubic meters with an extended wheelbase and high roof configuration.
Pricing for the electric range starts at ā¬54,993 gross (ā¬46,213 net) for the panel van, with the e-Transporter Kombi and crew cab priced from ā¬52,705 net (ā¬62,718.95 gross) and ā¬52,208 net (ā¬62,127.52 gross), respectively. The e-Caravelle, aimed at private buyers, is available from ā¬66,021 gross (ā¬55,480 net).

Base prices, except for the e-Caravelle, apply to the 85 kW version. The e-Transporter with 100 kW starts at ā¬59,310 gross (ā¬49,840 net) and offers a WLTP range of up to 357 kilometers for the standard-wheelbase model, while higher-powered versions are rated at up to 321 kilometers. The long-wheelbase variant maintains a range of 353 kilometers with the 100 kW configuration.
