Volkswagen Anhui has introduced updated versions of the ID. UNYX 06 electric SUV and ID. UNYX 07 electric sedan in China, adding LiDAR-based driver assistance and reducing starting list prices compared with their initial launches in May.
The Volkswagen joint venture announced the updates on Saturday. During China’s Double 11 shopping festival, the entry-level ID. UNYX 07 Lite is available at a promotional price of 99,900 yuan ($14,860). Volkswagen Anhui said this marks the first time it has offered a fully electric model in China below 100,000 yuan.
The promotional price applies only to the Lite variant. The ID. UNYX 07 is available in four variants, with list prices ranging from 109,900 yuan to 149,900 yuan. The ID. UNYX 06 coupe SUV comes in three variants, with list prices between 129,900 yuan and 169,900 yuan. Its Lite version has a promotional price of 119,900 yuan.
The starting list prices for the two models are 20,000 yuan lower than at their May launches. The ID. UNYX 06 initially started at 149,900 yuan, while the ID. UNYX 07 launched with a starting price of 129,900 yuan.
LiDAR Adds City Driving Assistance
A key update is the addition of a LiDAR-based driver-assistance system powered by the Journey 6H chip from Horizon Robotics (HKEX: 9660). The system supports navigation-assisted driving on urban roads.
The updated ID. UNYX 07 offers both vision-only and LiDAR-based driver-assistance configurations. According to Volkswagen Anhui, these support highway and city navigation assistance, respectively.
The LiDAR-based system also supports assisted driving between parking spaces and can handle situations such as U-turns at urban intersections, passing oncoming vehicles on narrow roads and recognising access gates.
The updates follow Volkswagen Anhui’s plans announced in May, when the company said it would introduce higher-end versions equipped with LiDAR during the second half of the year.
Battery Options and Vehicle Specifications
Both models now offer a 77.5 kWh battery option, increasing their maximum claimed driving ranges under China’s CLTC test cycle.
The ID. UNYX 06 has a maximum CLTC range of 630 km, while the ID. UNYX 07 is rated for up to 670 km. The company did not provide further battery performance or charging specifications in the announcement.
The ID. UNYX 07 measures 4,853 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 1,566 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,826 mm. Its electric motor has a maximum output of 170 kW.
The ID. UNYX 06 is smaller, measuring 4,663 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,617 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,766 mm.
Volkswagen Anhui Continues Price and Product Updates
The latest revisions come less than five months after the two models were launched in May. The changes combine lower entry prices, additional driver-assistance technology and larger battery options.
Volkswagen Anhui also updated the ID. UNYX 08 in September, reducing its limited-time starting price to 189,900 yuan, 40,000 yuan below its initial launch price in April.
Volkswagen Anhui was established in 2017 as a joint venture between Volkswagen and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC). Volkswagen increased its stake in the venture to 75% in late 2020.
The latest model updates reflect the joint venture’s use of pricing changes and more frequent product revisions as it competes in China’s electric vehicle market. The duration of the Double 11 promotional prices was not specified in the announcement.
