E-bike operators Lime, Dott and Voi will jointly run Paris’ official e-bike sharing scheme over the next four years, following the city’s latest tender. The decision marks a major expansion for Sweden-based Voi, while incumbents Lime and Dott have had their licences renewed.
Voi plans to deploy 6,000 e-bikes across the French capital, making Paris its largest market. “Being selected by Paris is a major milestone in Voi’s journey,” said CEO Fredrik Hjelm. “It confirms our strategy of focusing on long-term partnerships with capital cities that lead the way in sustainable mobility.”
Paris City Hall awarded operating rights to each company to deploy between 3,000 and 6,000 e-bikes alongside the city-run Vélib system. Dott, which reports 400,000 users in Paris, said it would continue investing locally. “When cities allocate a sufficient number of parking stations… usage increases significantly,” said Nicolas Gorse, Dott’s Chief Business Officer.
Lime also welcomed the extension of its permit, calling it a recognition of its five-year commitment to the city. The move comes after the 2023 public vote that banned shared e-scooters from Paris streets due to safety and clutter concerns. With the expanded e-bike scheme, Paris now hosts Europe’s largest bike-sharing network.
