Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast will unveil its first electric bus models in Europe at Busworld 2025 in Brussels this October, the company announced. The EB 8 and EB 12 buses are designed to comply with European Union standards, offering ranges of up to 400 km and charging capability of 140 kW.
The EB 12 has received full homologation under UNECE and CE regulations, according to VinFast, and was specifically designed for European operations with local regulations and infrastructure in mind. Both models are equipped with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs sourced from “trusted global leaders such as CATL and Gotion,” with capacities of up to 422 kWh. VinFast says the buses provide a “real-world range of up to 400 km,” and can be recharged in two to three hours at up to 140 kW.
“Europe shares VinFast’s vision of a green and sustainable future, and the launch of our VinFast electric bus models at Busworld is a strong statement of VinFast’s long-term commitment to the region,” said Le Thi Thu Thuy, Chairwoman of VinFast. She added, “Beyond individual electric cars, we are building a comprehensive green transformation ecosystem to make electrified transport more accessible than ever. With an increasingly diverse product range, we are confident we can contribute to creating a zero-emission transport system and a cleaner, greener life for Europeans.”
VinFast said it will accompany the bus launch with a strategy to enter the European public transport market, focusing on partnerships with local specialists and suppliers. This approach mirrors the rollout of its electric SUV portfolio, which already includes the VF 6 and VF 8 models in Europe.
The company noted that its European expansion aligns with the Paris Climate Agreement and the EU’s green transition goals, which aim for a 43% reduction in emissions by 2030 and for 90% of new buses to be zero-emission by that year, rising to 100% by 2035.
VinFast has been operating electric buses in Vietnam for four years, with an annual production capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles, all manufactured in compliance with CE standards. The introduction of the EB 8 and EB 12 in Europe is described by the company as a step toward building “smart, green, and sustainable cities” and furthering its mission to make electric mobility accessible to all.
