Vietnamese automaker VinFast has introduced its Green GSM electric taxi service in the Philippines, offering zero-emission rides across ten cities and districts within Metro Manila. The initiative marks the company’s fourth market entry following launches in Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia.
The new fleet consists exclusively of Nerio Green EVs, the commercial variant of VinFast’s VF e34 subcompact SUV. These vehicles are equipped with 110 kW electric motors and 42 kWh lithium batteries, delivering an estimated range of 285 kilometres per charge. Each unit features the Secure to Safe (S2) system, offering real-time monitoring and AI-based safety functions.
Rides can be booked via the Green GSM mobile app, by hotline, or at designated pick-up locations. Fares are calculated through an in-vehicle meter synchronized with the app, which the company says ensures transparent pricing for both riders and drivers.
To mark the launch, VinFast is offering first-time users in Metro Manila 500 Green Points—worth 500 Philippine pesos (€23)—which can be redeemed over the first seven rides until August 31.
“The Philippines marks a strategic chapter in our Go Green Global journey,” said Nguyễn Văn Thanh, Global CEO of GSM. “But more than expanding to a new market, our true goal is to ignite a real transformation – shifting from traditional mobility to an electric future that is cleaner, smarter, and more socially responsible.”
Green GSM’s arrival in the Philippines introduces fully electric ride-hailing services to a region of over 13 million residents, potentially expanding access to cleaner transportation in one of Southeast Asia’s most densely populated urban areas.
