Valeo has introduced a new alternating current (AC) charging station under its Ineez brand featuring native vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functionality and support for the ISO 15118-20 communication protocol. The charging station was presented publicly for the first time at the Drive to Zero exhibition in Paris.

Real-Time Grid Communication and Energy Flexibility

The company said the new charger enables electric vehicles (EVs) to communicate with electricity grids in real time, allowing energy to flow in both directions between vehicles and the grid. The technology is designed to help reduce charging costs while supporting greater energy flexibility and grid integration.

Valeo said the V2G capability is based on software and hardware technologies developed by IoTecha, a company it now owns. The charging ecosystem is managed through the cloud-based IoT.ON platform, which is designed to ensure interoperability between vehicles, charging infrastructure and electricity networks.

Advanced Features and Compliance Capabilities

According to the company, the station’s embedded software can be configured to comply with country-specific grid requirements. The charger also features Autocharge technology, enabling compatible vehicles to authenticate automatically without requiring charging cards or manual user interaction.

The Ineez range displayed at the event includes smart unidirectional AC charging solutions for residential and commercial applications, as well as bidirectional V2G AC charging stations tailored for individual automakers.

Broader Ineez Energy Solutions Portfolio

In addition to charging hardware, the portfolio includes energy monitoring and management solutions for commercial properties, along with charging cables and portable charging devices marketed under the Ineez brand.

Valeo’s Vision for Energy Flexibility

In a statement, Isabelle D’Ambrosio, Vice President Smart Mobility at Valeo, said the company is combining its expertise in industrial manufacturing and software development to expand into energy flexibility solutions beyond traditional automotive technologies.

“At Valeo, we are combining our industrial excellence and software protocols, to make advanced energy flexibility both accessible and future-proof for our customers, expanding our reach beyond the traditional automotive technology,” D’Ambrosio said.

“We are proud to present our latest Ineez AC charging station that offers Vehicle-to-grid technology as well as the latest communication protocol that secures a safe interface between the vehicle and the charging station.”
