Believ has been selected by North Lincolnshire Council to install hundreds of electric vehicle charging points over the coming years, following what the council described as a competitive tender process. The British charging point operator will deploy a mix of fast and rapid chargers across urban, rural and residential areas, the council said in a statement.

North Lincolnshire Council said the programme is intended to improve access for the roughly one in four local households that do not have off-street parking. Sixteen of the new chargers will be rapid or ultra-rapid units located in key car parks across the region, though specific power levels and site details have not yet been disclosed.

The council said Believ was chosen for its ability to provide cost-competitive charging tariffs and user-friendly payment options. “Believ stood out for its ability to deliver competitively priced tariffs across all charging speeds, providing affordable access and contactless payment options that enhance the overall charging experience,” the council noted.

Cllr David Rose, portfolio holder for environment and strategy at North Lincolnshire Council, said the partnership supports the next phase of the region’s Charging Ahead initiative. “To deliver the next phase of our Charging Ahead project, to install more electric charging points in North Lincolnshire, we are delighted to be working in partnership with Believ,” he said. “We are committed to supporting residents make cleaner, greener transport options and part of that is making the right infrastructure available in local communities. Not everyone has the option of off-street parking, which is why a high number of chargers will be located in these residential areas.”

Believ, which earlier this year completed a £300 million investment round, has accelerated its expansion across the UK. In March, the company acquired Switch EV, a charge-point management software provider, and has since signed comparable infrastructure delivery agreements with other local authorities, including Brighton and Hove.
