British electric vehicle charging network Be.EV said on Tuesday it would invest £4 million to build a new high-powered charging hub on the site of a disused petrol station in Failsworth, near Oldham in Greater Manchester. The company aims to turn the location into what it calls a “green electric forecourt and community hub.”
The facility will include 12 parking bays, with six ultra-rapid chargers capable of delivering up to 300 kilowatts, allowing users to add up to 523 kilometres (325 miles) of range in just 20 minutes, according to Be.EV. An additional four bays will accommodate vehicles waiting to access the chargers.

“This once-derelict site is set to become a key transport feature of the community – a thriving hub buzzing with activity,” said Asif Ghafoor, CEO of Be.EV. “Be.EV are on a mission to improve community access to EV charging and with the Manchester Charging Oasis we are putting our money where our mouth is.”
The development will also feature a Caffè Nero Express and landscaped green space, reflecting Be.EV’s plan to integrate leisure and public amenities into its infrastructure projects. The new site is part of the broader “Northern Gateway” regeneration initiative backed by Greater Manchester authorities, which includes a solar farm project in nearby Wrigley Head. Be.EV did not confirm whether the solar installation would directly power the charging hub.
