UK-based electric vehicle charging network Be.EV said it has launched operations in London with four new ultra-rapid charging hubs, adding 30 fast-charging bays to its network. The first installation was completed at the Crown Hotel, which also marks the company’s 300th ultra-rapid charge point. Additional hubs will be located near Croydon, Dartford and Watford.
Be.EV said it is investing more than £2.5 million in the new charging sites. The company, founded in Manchester in 2019, operates more than 750 charging bays nationwide and aims to expand that number to 1,600 by the end of 2025. Its growth is supported by £110 million from majority shareholder Octopus Energy Generation and £55 million from lenders NatWest and KfW IPEX-Bank.
“London is crying out for reliable, accessible EV charging – and this expansion is about meeting that demand head-on,” said Be.EV Chief Executive Asif Ghafoor. “We’re helping to future-proof the city by putting chargers where people need them most: close to homes, shops and leisure destinations.”
AG Hotels Group, which partnered with Be.EV to host chargers at the Crown Hotel, said the move supports both sustainability and customer demand. “On-site EV charging is becoming a clear differentiator in the hospitality sector, shifting from a nice-to-have to an essential service,” said CEO and Managing Director Grish Grover. “Partnering with Be.EV will allow us to meet the expectations of a growing number of travellers with EVs while also attracting new customers from the local community.”
Be.EV joined industry lobby group ChargeUK in 2023 and has since expanded across the Midlands and Trafford. Earlier this year, the company opened a £4 million “charging oasis” in Manchester with 12 parking bays and six high-speed chargers delivering up to 300kW.
