The Toyota bZ4X is the first model in the bZ (beyond zero) battery electric car family. This car will be equipped with a variety of technological innovations, driver assistance systems and multimedia connectivity.

The Toyota bZ4X is spacious and comfortable, with a new all-wheel drive system that ensures class-leading handling and off-road performance, with separate electric motors for each axle. It is the first model to be fully developed by Toyota as a BEV and also the first to use the company’s new BEV-only platform.

Based on the eTNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) philosophy, the Toyota bZ4X incorporates the battery unit as an integral part of the chassis, under the floor of the vehicle. This brings many benefits, including a low center of gravity, excellent front/rear weight balance and high body rigidity, all of which make a positive contribution to safety, ride and handling.

The Toyota bZ4X front-wheel drive is powered by a 150 kW electric motor. The car produces 204 DIN hp and 265 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h. The all-wheel drive (AWD) model has a maximum power of 217.5 DIN hp with 336 Nm of torque; top speed remains unchanged, while acceleration to 100 km/h is reduced to 7.7 seconds. All performance figures remain transient before homologation.

The system offers a “single pedal drive” option with a boost in braking energy regeneration allowing the driver to accelerate and decelerate the vehicle using only the gas pedal.

A battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh will deliver the Toyota bZ4X to 450 kilometers. Car owners need 30 minutes to charge the battery from 0-80% if using the 150 kW fast charging system.

The third generation of Toyota Safety Sense embedded in the Toyota bZ4X brings new and improved functions to help guard against a wider range of accident risks. Recent developments strengthen its capabilities as a driver-partner, moving closer to the highest mobility society goal of “zero deaths and injuries in traffic accidents”.

Toyota Safety Sense also checks driver wellbeing with a built-in monitor that records their usual driving position and triggers an alert if it detects any deviations that might signal a dangerous nuisance or the driver is unwell or asleep.
