The Mobility House Solutions has introduced dynamic tariff optimisation in its smart charging software, ChargePilot, allowing electric vehicle (EV) fleets to charge during periods of low or negative electricity prices. The company said the new feature could reduce energy costs by 25 to 30 percent across EV operations.
Electricity markets in Europe have remained volatile amid a growing share of renewable generation. The company reported 457 hours of negative power prices in Germany in 2024 alone. By leveraging such periods for charging, fleet operators can not only lower costs but also contribute to stabilising the grid.
The ChargePilot system connects to real-time electricity price data and automatically schedules charging when prices are most favorable. Despite the cost-saving potential, the platform prioritises operational reliability and vehicle availability. Its process hierarchy is designed to first comply with local power limits, meet mobility demands, and then optimise costs.
“The vision: #ZeroZero – zero emissions at zero cost,” the company said in a statement. According to The Mobility House Solutions, the system enables average energy cost savings of up to 30 percent, with potential reductions reaching 50 percent depending on market conditions.

The company’s technology is already being used at Amsterdam Airport, where dynamic tariff optimisation was deployed for Transdev Connexxion’s electric bus fleet. Energy expenses fell by about 30 percent without disrupting operations. Following pilot projects at DC charging sites, the company plans to expand the feature to AC infrastructure across its customer network.
