Audi has released the new Audi Q8 e-tron electric car as an improved version of the Audi e-tron (9/11). Departing from the name Audi e-tron, the new Audi Q8 e-tron car gets a fresher look complete with a new two-dimensional four-ring logo.
However, if you dig deeper, it turns out that the new Audi Q8 e-tron and Audi e-tron cars have some interesting differences apart from their appearance.
The first difference is in the propulsion system which in terms of power specifications is still the same as before. Audi adopted a rear-wheel drive motor with 14 coils on the Q8 e-tron instead of 12 coils like the e-tron.
With more coils, the Q8 e-tron electric motor is said to be able to produce strong torque but requires less electrical energy.
As additional information, the Audi Q8 e-tron comes in three variants, namely 50 e-tron, 55 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron. The Q8 50 e-tron and 55 e-tron get two all-wheel drive electric motors with 335 hp and 402 hp respectively.
Meanwhile, the fastest flagship variant SQ8 gets three electric motors with a combined power of 496 hp and 973 Nm of torque.
In addition to a more efficient rear electric motor, Audi has also pinned a larger battery option for the Q8 e-tron.
If the previous e-tron got batteries with a capacity of 71.2 kWh and 95 kWh, the Q8 e-tron is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 95 kWh and 114 kWh.
The use of this larger battery gives the Q8 e-tron a longer range with the claim that the longest distance reaches 600 kilometers.
Along with the adoption of larger batteries, the fast charging power of the Q8 e-tron has also been increased to 150 kW for the 50 e-tron and 170 kW for the 55 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron.
The biggest claim is that the Q8 e-tron battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes under ideal conditions.
