Tesla is planning to open its first Tesla Diner in China, with a launch targeted around the Lunar New Year in February 2026, according to a report by local media outlet West China City Daily on Wednesday.

The automaker has reportedly allocated a 3,000-square-meter site adjacent to its Gigafactory in Pudong, Shanghai, for the facility, which would mirror Tesla’s first restaurant and charging hub that opened in Hollywood, California, earlier this month.

Tesla’s Hollywood diner, which opened on July 21, features 80 V4 Superchargers, two 66-foot LED movie screens, and a 24-hour restaurant with seating for over 250 guests. The venue is open to both Tesla and non-Tesla drivers, though certain features—such as in-car food ordering and screen synchronization—are available only to Tesla owners.

While the report did not specify the exact menu or pricing, it indicated that prices in Shanghai could be around 70% of U.S. levels.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on social media that the company may replicate the concept globally. “If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long distance routes,” Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on July 21.

Although the new business line is not expected to contribute significantly to Tesla’s revenue, analysts say it may serve to reinforce the company’s brand and support vehicle sales in key markets.

Some Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, including Nio and Li Auto, have also introduced hospitality offerings, although primarily limited to beverage service within their showrooms.
