When Tesla rolled out its initial batch of Cybertrucks to eager customers, it came with a caveat: there would be delays for the remaining reservation holders. However, the company has now introduced a new option for those looking to expedite their Cybertruck delivery: redeeming their referral credits.
In a recent message sent through Tesla’s app, the company announced that customers could “redeem referral credits to accelerate [their] Cybertruck Delivery.” This offer, priced at 30,000 credits, aims to provide a faster path to receiving the highly anticipated electric truck.

The offer, which was shared on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum by user Rodx, promises that those who redeem their credits will be invited to configure and take delivery of their Foundation Series All-Wheel Drive or Cyberbeast within 45 days. However, there is a catch: customers can only redeem their credits once, and they are non-transferable. Additionally, the promotion is currently exclusive to the U.S. market, with a limited quantity of trucks and acceleration codes available.
Referral Credits are part of Tesla’s loyalty program, offering incentives to owners who successfully refer friends and family to purchase one of the automaker’s electric vehicles. This program has not been without controversy in the past, and the latest offer to expedite Cybertruck deliveries has received mixed reactions from the Cybertruck community.

While some early adopters may welcome the opportunity to receive their Cybertrucks more quickly, others have expressed skepticism. User Gigahorse on the forum raised concerns about the offer allowing certain customers to “skip the line,” potentially leading to issues with early versions of the Cybertruck. Others have questioned the need for acceleration, with some noting that their vehicle was already expected to arrive sooner than the promised 45 days.
User seadsmoney called the promotion “mystifying,” pointing out that the Foundation Series program, which adds $20,000 to the price of the electric truck, is already supposed to offer accelerated delivery. Similarly, user Travis64 expressed frustration, questioning whether those using their Referral Credits to skip the line would push back the delivery timeline for others to as far as 2025.
