In the first nine months of this year Tesla was the leader in electric vehicle sales in Germany with nearly 38,500 registrations. Tesla’s electric vehicle sales jumped nearly 50% from the same period last year last year.
This number beats local manufacturer Volkswagen with the number of electric vehicle registrations registered by the German federal government as many as 6,000 vehicles.
Based on figures released by the company last week, the Volkswagen Group sees total electric vehicle sales up 25% in January-September when compared to a year earlier.
Supply chain problems have hit the Volkswagen Group in Europe, where inflation and rising energy costs are also weighing on the company’s finances.
Across all vehicle types, Volkswagen Group vehicle shipments globally are down 12.9% this year, as they reported last week. Europe was the most affected region in terms of declining sales.
“The tense situation in component supply has repeatedly led to adjustments in production. We expect a stabilization of supply over the coming year,” a Volkswagen spokesman said of the data, as quoted by Reuters.
Tesla has seen record shipments globally but is also struggling with logistics challenges and fewer deliveries in the third quarter as analysts expected. This is all due to the unfavorable economic conditions at the end of this year.
