Tesla has secured its inaugural showroom location in India, leasing a 4,000-square-foot space in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), according to sources familiar with the matter.
The showroom is situated on the ground floor of a commercial tower in BKC, with a monthly rent of approximately ₹35 lakh ($40,100).

This development follows CEO Elon Musk’s recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the United States, where they discussed topics including space, mobility, and technology.
In addition to the Mumbai location, Tesla has selected a site in New Delhi’s Aerocity for a second showroom, both measuring around 5,000 square feet.
While Tesla has not announced opening dates for these showrooms, the company has posted job listings for mid-level roles in India, indicating preparations for its market entry.

India’s import duties on electric vehicles, which can reach up to 100%, remain a significant consideration for Tesla’s strategy in the country.
