Tesla has rolled out a new software update, version 2024.2.6, aimed at improving its navigation system. The update introduces several new features, including the ability to mark accidents and road closures, a functionality already present in navigation apps like Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze.
While Tesla’s navigation system is known for its immersive and responsive interface, it has lacked some of the advanced features offered by third-party applications. With this update, Tesla appears to be closing that gap by incorporating crowd-sourced information about road conditions, such as road debris, police presence, accidents, and disabled vehicles, to alert drivers on the screen.

According to Tesla hacker Green, the update includes notifications for accidents and closed roads, as well as an option to select routes without tolls. Additionally, drivers can now choose between different route options based on their preferences, such as opting for a longer, more scenic drive or selecting the fastest route to their destination.

This update follows Tesla’s previous navigation improvements introduced in early December 2023, which included speed camera awareness and a new driver monitoring feature, among other enhancements.
