Tesla Cybertruck’s Under-Bed Storage Revealed in New Video, Eliciting Mixed Reactions

In a recent video that has surfaced online, the under-bed storage compartment of the much-anticipated Tesla Cybertruck has garnered both admiration and criticism from eager reservation holders. The video, originally shared on the Tesla-focused platform X by user @DimaZeniuk, raises questions about the electric pickup’s practicality and design.

The source of the video remains somewhat enigmatic, as it was also posted on Facebook by a different individual claiming to be the original filmer. Despite this ambiguity, the short clip appears authentic, drawing attention to specific features of the Cybertruck’s under-bed storage.

One notable detail that enthusiasts have pointed out is the apparent watertight nature of the storage compartment. This conclusion is drawn from the presence of a rubber gasket on the lid, suggesting a level of protection against the elements. Previous photos of the under-bed storage have also revealed the existence of at least one drain hole on the upper part of the bin, serving as an additional safeguard against water and mud infiltration.

Additionally, there has been speculation on Reddit regarding the possible presence of a drain plug at the bottom of the bin. This feature, if confirmed, would enable the storage space to double as a portable cooler, provided users fill it with ice. When the ice melts, simply remove the plug, and the water drains away. However, it’s essential to note that this drain plug has not been visually confirmed.

Comparisons have been drawn between the Cybertruck’s under-bed trunk and the rear storage bin of the Rivian R1T electric truck. Notably, the Cybertruck’s storage compartment appears to be insufficient in size to accommodate a full-size spare tire, which is a noteworthy departure from the Rivian model.

In fact, the Cybertruck is believed to lack a spare tire altogether, a detail that may raise concerns for owners in remote areas where a flat tire could become a significant inconvenience. While the option to carry a spare tire in the bed is available, it would reduce the vehicle’s carrying capacity, potentially impacting those who regularly transport substantial cargo.

As anticipation for the Cybertruck’s official launch continues to build, these glimpses into the vehicle’s storage features provide reservation holders with both excitement and reservations about the practicality of this electric pickup.
