In a recent development, a Tesla Cybertruck wrapped in camouflage was spotted in California, hinting that the automaker may have finalized the design of its highly anticipated electric pickup truck. Since its initial unveiling in 2019, the Cybertruck has undergone several design iterations, but recent sightings have showcased a level of fit and finish that aligns with a production-ready vehicle. These observations indicate that Tesla is approaching the finalization of the design, with production slated to commence later this summer.

The sighting took place in Palo Alto, California, and was captured by Twitter user YYDS (@ya78756632), who shared two photos of the wrapped Cybertruck on the social media platform. Although there haven’t been any radical design changes in recent months, Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously mentioned that the revisions made were minor tweaks. However, it is worth noting that the Cybertruck spotted still retains the distinctive Gigawiper, a feature that has remained consistent throughout the design iterations.

Upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that this particular Cybertruck model features a round steering wheel, deviating from the hybrid yoke/round wheel combination showcased at Investor Day. This design variation aligns with a glimpse of a round steering wheel seen in the background of Tesla’s recent Tesla Bot update video.

Besides providing insight into the potential design updates, the sighting also offers a first glimpse of a wrapped Cybertruck. While the stainless steel finish of the vehicle will undoubtedly make it stand out on the roads, many prospective owners have expressed interest in wrapping it with different colors since Tesla will not be offering traditional paint options.

Tesla’s most recent update indicates that production of the Cybertruck will commence later this summer, with Musk aiming to host a special delivery event in the third quarter of this year. Supporting this timeline, documents shared with Tesla’s suppliers suggest that the company plans to have the first release candidate Cybertrucks built by August 2023. The release candidate represents the final version before series production begins and the vehicle is officially launched to the public.

As anticipation builds for the release of the Tesla Cybertruck, the sighting of a wrapped prototype reinforces the notion that the design is nearing its final form. With production on the horizon, enthusiasts and prospective buyers eagerly await the opportunity to experience this innovative electric pickup truck firsthand.
