California-based electric vehicle manufacturer, Telo Trucks, has recently introduced its latest creation, an all-electric compact pickup truck. With a price starting at $49,999, the Telo Truck offers impressive features and specifications.

The vehicle is equipped with a 380 kW dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, providing excellent power and traction. Despite its compact size, measuring only 152 inches in length, the Telo Truck can comfortably accommodate five adult passengers, with the option to add extra seating for a total of eight occupants. The truck’s electric propulsion is enabled by a 106 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of up to 350 miles on a single charge.

The Telo Truck boasts a payload capacity of 1,600 pounds, allowing for efficient transportation of goods, while the towing capacity reaches 6,600 pounds. Although the towing capacity is less than some competitors, such as the R1T, the Telo Truck compensates with its other features.

One notable design aspect is the expandable truck bed, measuring 60 inches when the tailgate is closed. A specially designed mid-partition between the back seat and the truck bed can be folded down, increasing the interior space and expanding the truck bed’s size. Additionally, the truck bed can be converted with a camper shell, providing seating for up to eight passengers, including a third row of seats.

Telo Trucks describes its MT1 model as “the most compact, practical, and technically advanced truck,” with the capability of a Toyota Tacoma, Tesla-like range and efficiency, all in the footprint of a Mini Cooper. The company has already started accepting pre-orders for the Telo MT1, requiring a deposit of $152.

The timing of Telo Trucks’ entry into the electric truck market appears favorable, considering the popularity of the Ford Lightning F-150 and the ongoing production ramp-up of the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian models. Moreover, the Telo Truck’s price tag of $50,000 presents a significant advantage, especially considering that the Lightning F-150 starts at $111,500 in Norway and approximately $78,000 in the USA.

The dimensions of the Telo Truck have been a crucial factor in its design process. Telo aimed to create a purpose-built truck, contrasting with the larger pickups offered by other manufacturers. Forrest North, co-founder and CTO of Telo, expressed their vision to challenge the current design norms, comparing the concept to how Tesla made loud cars sound slow. By eliminating the need for a bulky front-end design, Telo Trucks aims to provide a fresh perspective on truck aesthetics and functionality.

With its competitive features and appealing price point, Telo Trucks is poised to make a significant impact in the electric truck market with its compact, efficient, and technologically advanced MT1 model.
