Tern, renowned for its urban cargo e-bikes, has taken a bold step into the off-road market with the unveiling of its latest creation: the Tern Orox adventure cargo e-bike.
The new e-bike, revealed today, maintains Tern’s signature quality design and premium engineering but caters to a different riding experience, focusing on off-road capabilities while retaining key features such as passenger seating, dual battery options, and meticulous attention to durability and safety.

Josh Hon, Tern Team Captain, explained the company’s approach: “Six years ago, we introduced the GSD with the belief that a compact and easy-to-ride bike capable of carrying passengers and cargo would get people out of their cars and onto bikes. We were right, and we love seeing all the amazing things people are doing with the GSD in crowded cities. But we also realized that there are plenty of places people want to go that are unpaved. And they want to bring their gear. For those trips, we made the Orox.”
The Tern Orox is designed to offer riders the freedom to explore various terrains, from city bike lanes to rugged nature trails, with the flexibility to choose from a range of tire sizes. The frame and fork are designed to accommodate 26 x 5â, 27.5 x 4â, or 29 x 3â wheels/tires.

Powered by Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor with 85 Nm of torque and up to 340% assistance, the Orox can achieve a maximum range of over 300 km (186 miles) when equipped with two of Bosch’s 800 Wh batteries. The bike also offers Bosch’s eBike Flow app for features like bike locking, anti-theft alarm, and GPS-tracking.
