Chinese battery manufacturer Svolt Energy said on Monday that its joint venture factory in Thailand has produced its 10,000th electric vehicle (EV) battery pack, marking a significant milestone for the company’s overseas expansion strategy.
The plant, located in Chonburi, is operated in partnership with Banpu Next, a Thai energy solutions provider. According to a statement from Svolt, the milestone was achieved on June 30, just six months after the facility began operations.
Equipped with two advanced CTP and LCTP/HEV production lines, the factory integrates digital manufacturing systems and has achieved a reported yield rate of 99.9 percent.
“The production of the 10,000th EV battery pack marks a phased success in Svolt’s strategic layout in the Southeast Asian market,” said Chen Lei, general manager of Svolt’s Thailand base. He added that the company is now accelerating construction of an energy storage assembly line and intends to expand its light-duty power and storage businesses across the region.
Svolt, which began as the battery division of Great Wall Motor in 2012 before becoming an independent entity in 2018, produces a range of battery technologies including next-generation cells, modules, battery management systems (BMS), and energy storage solutions.
Battery packs from the Thailand facility are already deployed in Great Wall Motor’s Ora Good Cat EV and hybrid models such as the Haval H6 and Tank 300.
The factory broke ground in July 2023 and produced its first pack in December of the same year. It is a core part of Svolt’s broader Asia-Pacific strategy, which aims to support local demand and regional supply chains through localized production.
