Stellantis has scrapped plans to launch the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee, the brand’s range-topping electric muscle car, according to a report from Mopar Insiders. The move marks another step in the automaker’s shift back toward combustion engines and hybrid powertrains.
First shown as a concept in 2022, the Charger Daytona SRT Banshee was promoted by Dodge as a breakthrough in electric performance. The company said at the time that the vehicle “muscles aside the boring BEV paradigm” and would deliver output exceeding that of the SRT Hellcat. Built on an 800V platform, the production model was expected to top 1,000 horsepower.

Stellantis has not confirmed the decision and declined to comment when asked. The development comes as other Stellantis brands adjust their lineups.
Ram has cancelled its all-electric pickup in favor of a range-extended version, while Jeep and Ram are bringing back HEMI V8 engines in upcoming models. Dodge’s 2026 Durango will also be offered solely with a HEMI engine.

With the base Charger Daytona R/T already dropped from the 2026 lineup, the Scat Pack is now the highest trim available. The shelving of the Banshee underscores a broader recalibration by Stellantis as automakers reassess the pace of electrification in response to market conditions.
