Stellantis has introduced a retrofit program in France that allows owners of diesel-powered light commercial vehicles to convert them into fully electric models.
Developed in partnership with French retrofit specialist Qinomic, the initiative targets mid-size vans including the Fiat Scudo, Opel Vivaro, Peugeot Expert, and Citroën Jumpy.

The retrofit program is managed by Stellantis’ Pro One unit, which focuses on business customers, and was created in collaboration with the automaker’s circular economy division, SUSTAINera. The conversion involves replacing over 200 components, including the engine, transmission, and exhaust system.
Removed parts are dismantled by commercial vehicle coachbuilder Gruau and sent to Stellantis’ Circular Economy Hub in Mirafiori for reconditioning and reuse.

“This is a win-win solution for the environment and the economy,” Stellantis said in a statement. “It combines high technical standards with the goal of reducing CO₂.”
Vehicles built from 2016 onward are eligible for the upgrade. Qinomic installs a 100 kW electric motor paired with a 50 kWh or 75 kWh battery, offering ranges of approximately 230 km and 330 km, respectively. The system supports 100 kW DC fast charging, enabling an 80% charge in about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the battery size.

Pricing in France starts at €25,000 plus VAT for the smaller battery and €33,000 plus VAT for the larger pack. However, available subsidies can significantly reduce costs to around €10,000 or €18,000. Stellantis notes this undercuts the price of a new electric van, such as the €41,400 Citroën ë-Jumpy XL with a 75 kWh battery.
The program is currently limited to France, with no announcement yet on expansion to other markets.
