Stellantis said it has appointed Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a leadership transition nearly six months after the departure of Carlos Tavares. The announcement follows an extensive internal and external search led by a special board committee chaired by Executive Chairman John Elkann.
Filosa, currently Chief Operating Officer for North and South America and Chief Quality Officer, will officially assume the CEO role on June 23. He was unanimously chosen by the Board of Directors, which cited his more than 25 years of experience in the automotive sector, global leadership acumen, and strong track record in brand growth and operational execution as key reasons behind the appointment.

“Antonio’s deep understanding of our Company, including its people who he views as our core strength, and of our industry equip him perfectly for the role of Chief Executive Officer in this next and crucial phase of Stellantis’ development,” said Elkann. “His effective leadership during an unprecedented period in North and South America has confirmed the excellent qualities he brings to the role.”
Filosa joined Stellantis’ predecessor company Fiat over two decades ago and held various roles across its operations. As Chief Operating Officer for South America, he spearheaded Fiat’s rise to market leadership in the region and strengthened the position of other Stellantis brands including Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep. His tenure as CEO of Jeep also saw the brand’s expanded presence in global markets, particularly in Europe.

Filosa was promoted in December 2024 to oversee operations across the Americas, and in February 2025 his role expanded to include responsibility for the Quality division. He is expected to unveil a new Stellantis management team upon taking office next month, though it remains unclear who will succeed him in his current position.
In a statement, Filosa thanked the Board for its confidence and emphasized Stellantis’ heritage and customer focus. “We have the world’s best and most iconic brands in automotive history and an over 100-year heritage of innovation,” he said. “That legacy, combined with our relentless dedication to giving our customers the products and services they love, will continue to be key to our success.”

With Filosa taking the helm, Stellantis enters a new chapter of leadership as it continues navigating the global transition toward electrification, digitalization, and increasing geopolitical pressures. Chairman John Elkann will retain his position as Executive Chairman, maintaining a prominent role in guiding corporate strategy alongside the new CEO.
