Polish electric bus manufacturer Solaris has secured a contract to supply ten Trollino 18 trolleybuses to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, by mid-2025. The deal was signed with the Ministry of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton after Solaris won a tender partially financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The company did not disclose the contract’s value.
The Trollino 18 is an 18-meter-long articulated trolleybus that operates on an overhead catenary system for fully electric travel. It can also cover distances of up to 20 kilometers without a direct connection to the wires, according to Solaris.

“Our trolleybuses are designed to offer reliable and sustainable public transport solutions,” Solaris stated, highlighting its continued presence in the European market.
The company offers three models in its Trollino range: the Trollino 12, Trollino 18, and Trollino 24. Solaris held a 60% share of the European trolleybus market last year, having delivered nearly 2,500 units to 70 cities across the continent.

With the latest Sarajevo contract, Solaris now has vehicles operating in 36 countries. Its largest single order to date was the delivery of 100 Trollino 12 units to Bucharest in 2023.
